The King Shaka International airport has
reached an important milestone in its development.
After weeks of consideration, the department
of environmental affairs and tourism (DEAT)
finally gave the green light for the development
to go ahead.
The record of decision was signed at a ceremony
in Cape Town on August 23.

Watch out, the Dolphin Coast
is about to become the next
mega-city in the province
with over R100 billion rands
worth of investment about to
unravel.
In the pipeline there are an
estimated 30 000 houses –
upmarket and low-cost,
hotels – large and boutique,
shopping malls, industrial
parks as well as the proposed
King Shaka airport and Dube
tradeport at La Mercy.

Bio-fuel from sugar: What lies ahead |

Should the government give the go-ahead for
ethanol to be produced from sugar, as an alternative
to fossil fuels, the North Coast will most certainly
be a key player.
Sixty-eight percent of land under sugar cane in
this country is found along the KwaZulu-Natal
coast. Of the eight sugar mills on the coast, six are
on the North Coast.
