Eleven years ago, life was looking
bleak for Lucille Cholerton.

Airport will create agri-opportunities |

| On the subject of the building
of an agri-zone, Dube Trade
Port project co-ordinator Mandisa
Zondo said a variety of
different kinds of fresh herbs,
flowers and vegetables will be
grown near the airport in three
ways - open field, under shade
net and in greenhouses.
Pack houses and import and
export trading facilities, as well
as a training centre and nursery
will be built on site....... |

Construction on the King Shaka airport
near La Mercy is on track and will be
ready – come what may – in 2010.
“Everything is running according to
schedule. We have built in time to allow
for rain days when we can’t work and
unless there is a catastrophe on the scale
of a tsunami we will be commissioning
the airport in April 2010,” said Dube

The King Shaka International airport has
reached an important milestone in its development.
After weeks of consideration, the department
of environmental affairs and tourism (DEAT)
finally gave the green light for the development
to go ahead.
The record of decision was signed at a ceremony
in Cape Town on August 23.
This gives Airports Company South Africa

Watch out, the Dolphin Coast
is about to become the next
mega-city in the province
with over R100 billion rands
worth of investment about to
unravel.
In the pipeline there are an
estimated 30 000 houses –
upmarket and low-cost,
hotels – large and boutique,
shopping malls, industrial
parks as well as the proposed
King Shaka airport and Dube
tradeport at La Mercy.
